Occupational Health

Georgetown University Occupational Health supports the health and safety of university personnel through work-related medical surveillance, medical clearance, vaccination and immunity services, and other occupational health programs. Requirements are based on assigned duties, workplace hazards, potential exposures, and applicable University programs.
Occupational Health operates within the Office of Environmental Health & Safety and works with employees, supervisors, Principal Investigators, the Division of Comparative Medicine, Public Health, Risk Management, and other University partners.
Workplace Injury or Exposure
If you experience a work-related injury, animal-related injury, bloodborne pathogen exposure, or other occupational exposure, take immediate first-aid measures and follow the applicable reporting and medical-evaluation procedures.
Animal Exposure Medical Surveillance
Medical surveillance and clearance requirements for personnel who work with laboratory animals, enter laboratory animal areas, or may be exposed to laboratory animal allergens or related hazards.
Respiratory Protection
Medical evaluation, clearance, training, and fit-testing requirements for personnel who are required to use respiratory protection at work.
Vaccinations and Immunity
Information about work-related vaccination requirements, hepatitis B vaccination, tetanus/Tdap documentation, measles immunity documentation, and upcoming vaccine clinics.
Other Medical Surveillance
Information about hearing conservation, formaldehyde surveillance, and other exposure-specific medical surveillance requirements.
