Chemical Safety
The Office of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) at Georgetown University is committed to ensuring the safe use of chemicals in teaching, research, and support laboratories. EH&S provides oversight and technical guidance to identify, evaluate, and control chemical hazards, ensuring the protection of laboratory personnel, staff, students, and visitors.
The Chemical Safety Program establishes mandatory requirements for chemical inventory management, proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals, laboratory inspections, and personnel training. All program elements are implemented to enforce University policies and comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards.
