Regulatory Committees
Georgetown University maintains specialized regulatory committees to ensure safe, ethical, and compliant research. The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) oversees all laboratory work involving biological materials, infectious agents, and recombinant DNA to guarantee it meets federal safety standards. Similarly, the Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) governs the licensing, policy, and secure use of radioactive materials and equipment across campus. Working closely with the Office of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and other institutional boards, these committees enforce safety protocols, assess risks, and mandate essential training to protect researchers, the campus, and the wider community.
