DOEE Inspection

Posted in Announcements

The Department of Energy and Environment will be conducting an inspection in GU Research Laboratories at the end of February. In preparation for this inspection, EH&S will do brief walkthroughs of labs with “Satellite Accumulation Areas” and inspect the condition of these hazardous waste areas. Please ensure that your SAAs meet the following requirements:

  1.  The SAA has identifying signage (attached below)
  2. Up-to-date weekly inspection sheet (attached below)
  3. Waste is labelled appropriately – Contains: “Hazardous Waste”, the chemical name (not formula), and the accumulation start date
  4. No “overdue” chemical waste – No longer than 90 days from the accumulation start date
  5. Waste is placed in secondary containment
  6. Waste is separated by hazard class
  7. Containers are in good condition and closed

Be sure to submit waste requests using the EHSA portal (new window) for full or overdue chemical waste.
