Chemical Safety
The Chemical Safety program has been developed and is maintained to control hazards related to chemicals used within the Georgetown community. Program requirements include annual inspections of all research and support areas, developing and maintaining accurate chemical inventories, laboratory staff training, assessing of exposures related to chemical hazards, and assisting investigators in the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals. All program elements are implemented to comply with several OSHA standards, including, but not limited to Hazard Communication, Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories, Formaldehyde Exposure Control, and Respiratory Protection.
